Short talk on Rabies Awareness for Students at Kunwar Raja Singh Inter-college, Bareilly @WRD 24

On the occasion of WRD 2024, an awareness campaign targeting schoolchildren was organized at the Kunwar Raja Singh Inter-college, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, India. The event was jointly conducted by the Division of Veterinary Public Health, ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly with Department of Community Medicine, Sri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly under the aegis of Rotary International, Izatnagar branch. A total of 250 inter-college students and over 30 staff members participated in the event. A lecture was delivered on the rabies virus, its transmission routes, and on the measures to prevent and control the disease. A few videos depicting identification of rabid dogs and the measures to clean the bite wound were also displayed for the benefit of the students. The session was followed by a quiz competition for the students on various aspects of rabies disease. The students enthusiastically participated in the event and winners were rewarded with gifts in the form of stationary. A bilingual (English and Hindi) leaflet on awareness about Rabies containing take home messages was also distributed among the students. The students were asked to take an oath to spread the message among their parents and neighbors.
