What is the VST?

The Vaccination and Sterilization Tracker (VST) tool enables users that implement sterilization (spay/neuter) and rabies vaccination initiatives using mobile or static animal health clinics to monitor their progress and impact in real-time. The tool focuses on users who are implementing combined sterilizations and vaccinations programs and need to collect more detailed information.

Who is the VST for?

The VST is ideal for mobile or static clinics (e.g., private practices and mobile animal health programs) to help you map and monitor the progress of sterilization and rabies vaccination initiatives in communities.

Why should I use the VST?

The VST provides real-time data analyses while also being easy to use. The tool requires little training, and another benefit is that you can work on it offline.

What are the benefits of using the VST?

It will help you to:

  • Manage your sterilization and rabies vaccination data at a clinic level.
  • Monitor the progress of sterilization and rabies vaccination initiatives in communities.
  • Identify specific communities that require sterilization and rabies vaccination interventions.

What data does the VST capture?

  • Precise GPS coordinates
  • Species
  • Sex
  • Age
  • Date
  • Sterilization information
  • Rabies vaccination information
  • Ownership status
  • Body condition score of the animal

What are the outputs from the VST?

  • Real-time maps
  • Graphs
  • Tables

All outputs are automatically generated and updated by the tool. Therefore, there is no need for GIS experts, epidemiologists, or people with advanced computer skills or expensive software.

Can I use the VST tool for tracking mass dog vaccination campaigns?

No, the VST tool is ideally meant for static or mobile clinics that implement simultaneous sterilization and rabies vaccination work. While it can be used during large-scale vaccination programs, the Rabies Vaccination Tracker (RVT) tool has been specifically designed to track mass dog vaccination campaigns. The RVT is faster and easier to use than the VST for tracking mass dog vaccination campaigns.
