The World Rabies Day awards recognize individuals and veterinary clinics that have made significant contributions to rabies prevention and elimination. We want to celebrate and award these rabies champions who are working tirelessly within their communities. Awardees receive:

  • USD1,500 to help continue their excellent work.
  • In-kind support from GARC, valued at USD1,500.
  • A plaque and certificate recognizing their efforts.

The four award categories are:

Veterinary Clinic Award

For Veterinary clinic practitioners running community outreach programs or doing pro bono work. E.g., Clinics providing free rabies vaccinations.

Education champion

For individuals educating their community on rabies prevention and elimination, including general awareness and advocacy, educating children, or developing great resources.

Vaccination champion

For individuals contributing to vaccinating dogs against rabies in their community, making an impact regardless of their capacity.

Animal welfare champion (with a key focus on rabies elimination)

For individuals working to improve dog population management (DPM), including sterilization, TNVR campaigns and waste management. Individuals working to end indiscriminate dog culling in the name of rabies control. Any animal welfare activities, e.g. shelters and feeding programs.

Who can be nominated for a World Rabies Day Award?

The Awards are for individuals that have built sustainable community programs with a focus on rabies prevention and elimination. This is the opportunity for smaller, relatively unknown local champions to share their stories with the global community working towards rabies prevention and elimination!

Although our World Rabies Day Awards focus on individuals, we would like to thank the international and national NGOs, academics, and vaccine sector for your amazing work!
