Exciting Changes at GARC
Since 2007, GARC has been the leading non-profit organization driving global rabies elimination efforts. We have continuously evolved to keep up with a constantly changing world. From starting World Rabies Day to launching Communities Against Rabies in 2023, we have remained committed to empowering individuals, NGOs, and governments in more than 35 countries through a structured, science-led approach.
In a world where rabies continues to claim lives, we are intensifying our efforts to build the capacity of stakeholders around the world. As the global focus moves from rabies awareness to rabies elimination, we are reaffirming our commitment towards empowering global communities. Rabies elimination needs to happen at the community level, with stakeholders working together to lead and sustain their rabies elimination efforts. That is why we believe it is time to Act Now, and GARC has a renewed drive to inspire, motivate and energize the world to stand with us as we realize our vision of a world free from dog rabies.
To celebrate this chapter of renewed commitment, we want to share some really exciting changes at GARC! Essentially, nothing about how we operate and provide support is changing, however, as we continue to lead the way, through innovation and with agility, we will be doing so with a refreshed look and feel, new leadership, and an expanded team of experts.
Meet the new GARC expert team
In July 2025, we appointed Dr Andre Coetzer as the new Chief Executive Officer (read more here). In addition, we also appointed additional experts, all passionate about GARC’s mission. Although small, our team of dedicated individuals, collectively work to advance GARC’s value offering to our global community. Meet our team here.
The new GARC look
In celebration of us reaffirming our commitment to rabies elimination at community level, we updated GARC’s look and feel – visually portraying our excitement for the future. Over the next couple of days, you will notice the “new GARC” on all our social media platforms, communications and on our website. Below is a sneak peak of what to look out for.
Our new logo

As an organization focused on eliminating dog-mediated rabies, we know it starts with us. We are responsible for the health, safety and well-being of dogs within our communities. By keeping dogs rabies-free, we also ensure that the people interacting with them are safe. We believe that our new logo acts as a visual reminder of our promise to end rabies and empower communities.
Our new slogan
The GARC promise: Ending rabies. Empowering communities.
This is the essence of who we are at GARC. We believe that ending rabies starts with empowering our communities. The threat of rabies continues to be a reality in too many communities worldwide. An estimated 59 000 people die every year from this disease that is 100% preventable. Our mission: eliminate human and animal deaths from dog-mediated rabies by building and strengthening the capacity of local, national and global stakeholders. Remember, wherever you work, we can help to build your skills and strengthen your capacity.
New look, same tools
Our structured, science-led approach ensures that we make a sustainable, measurable impact. Our tools and resources will remain free to use. Are you curious to see what they will look like?
The GARC Data Platform

The GARC Data Platform enables users to capture, analyze, and visualize real-time rabies data across all aspects of the disease. The GARC Data Platform is the most comprehensive rabies data system available, as well as the only advanced platform of its kind. Data informs. And when stakeholders are able to gather and analyze data from outbreaks, they can make informed decisions, engage with donors in a more meaningful way, and ultimately save lives. The GARC Education Platform

To create understanding, we believe in education. Knowledge empowers. The GARC Education Platform offers free online courses, through learning, individuals are empowered to become rabies advocates, focal persons, and experts across the globe. Read more here.
New look, same GARC
We are excited about these changes and look forward to what the future holds. Although we have a new look, we remain the GARC you have come to know and trust. Our contact details, website, programs, and initiatives will remain the same. We are stronger than ever, and we look forward to helping you not just imagine a world without rabies but actively work towards making it a reality.
