East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is rich in global tourist destinations but continues to face serious public health challenges due to rabies, a deadly zoonotic disease. The issue is exacerbated by low public awareness, many stray animals, and limited facilities. Despite efforts through World Rabies Day and Animal Welfare NTT workshops in 2023 and 2024, challenges such as operational gaps and difficulties in managing rabies cases persist.

The 2025 World Rabies Day focuses on strengthening commitment and collaboration among stakeholders—from government to communities—for sustainable rabies control rooted in animal welfare. Activities like stakeholder Focus Group Discussions and media workshops aim to build capacity, promote responsible pet ownership, and improve strategies for long-term rabies management in the province.
