Community members gathered at Nyasha Ward for rabies awareness and vaccination campaign

On September 28, 2025, Kasulu Health Home Based Care Organization (KAHHOBACO) and Bafuruma Veterinary Clinic jointly organized a World Rabies Day campaign in Nyasha Ward, Kasulu. The event focused on raising awareness about rabies prevention and promoting responsible pet ownership through education and vaccination.

Under the theme “Act Now: You, Me, the Community”, the campaign emphasized collective responsibility in preventing rabies. Activities included:

  • Community education on rabies risks and prevention
  • Dog washing and vaccination services
  • Outreach promoting the One Health approach

Key Results:

  • Dogs vaccinated: 100
  • Dogs not vaccinated due to shortage: Over 270

The campaign highlighted strong community engagement and the urgent need for more vaccine supplies to protect both human and animal health.
