The Veterinary Technology Student Association at Universidad Ana G. Méndez – Ponce is proud to announce its participation in World Rabies Day 2025, taking place on September 29th. This global initiative seeks to end the unnecessary suffering caused by rabies, and as future Veterinary Technicians and Technologists, our mission is to raise awareness about rabies prevention and contribute to reducing transmission in both animals and humans.
To commemorate this important day, our association will be hosting the following activities:
-
Train and Certify Marathon
Our members engaged in the free online certification programs offered by the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC). These opportunities not only strengthen our knowledge and skills as students but also prepare us to better serve our communities after graduation. -
Rabies Conference
We are honored to welcome Mr. José Rodríguez, one of our professors and mentors with extensive field experience, who will lead a special session on September 29th at 9:00 AM. His presentation will review the life cycle of the rabies virus and explore ways in which students can contribute to this global movement. -
Test-Your-Knowledge Quiz Session
Following the conference, our active members will join an interactive quiz session through our Telegram group. The quiz will feature multiple-choice questions covering the rabies virus, prevention guidelines, and best practices for animal bite wound care. -
Social Media Awareness Campaign
To broaden our impact beyond campus, our Social Media Manager, Ms. Alexandra J. Pérez, has prepared and published engaging content through Telegram to help spread the message of World Rabies Day 2025 within our online community.
Through these efforts, we aim to strengthen our knowledge, raise awareness, and actively contribute to the fight against rabies—both as students and as the next generation of veterinary professionals.
