
Rabies Awareness Class, Quiz contest and Video Show for High School Students
As part of the World Rabies Day 2025 observance, a Rabies Awareness Class and Video Show was organized at Government Higher Secondary School, Mangalpady, Kasaragod, on 29th September 2025. The programme was jointly conducted by the Department of General Education and the Indian Veterinary Association, Kerala, in association with the IVA-RAKSHA Rabies Awareness Campaign.
The session aimed at sensitizing high school students about the dangers of rabies, its modes of transmission, and the importance of timely prevention. Experts highlighted the crucial steps to be taken after an animal bite, such as immediate wound washing and post-exposure vaccination, and also stressed on the significance of vaccinating pet animals to prevent the spread of the disease.
An engaging rabies awareness video (IVA-RAKSHA) was screened during the programme, which effectively conveyed the key messages in a simple and visual manner, leaving a strong impression on the young audience. Interactive discussions and awareness talks further enriched the session.A quiz contest on rabies awareness was also conducted for the students, which created an interactive and lively atmosphere, helping them recall and reinforce the key points discussed.
The programme concluded with the message that rabies is a 100% preventable disease if awareness, timely medical care, and responsible pet vaccination are ensured. Students were encouraged to spread the awareness within their families and communities, thus becoming ambassadors of rabies prevention.
