World Rabies Day Poster Competition 2023 - Kansas Schools

The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (KSVDL) at Kansas State University (KSU) and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) in collaboration with Bavarian Nordic and the One Health Commission Bat Rabies Education Team (OHC-BRET) are hosting a rabies poster contest to educate children about rabies prevention in Kansas.

The contest is open to Kansas students in grades k-12, with prizes awarded to participating schools and students in four grade-level categories. The goal of the contest is to raise awareness about rabies prevention by engaging students to actively develop their knowledge and understanding of the disease, the wildlife reservoirs and how transmission can be prevented, through the creation of informative posters. These will also serve as an educational resource to help protect others against rabies.

Poster submissions in both digital and non-digital format will be accepted until December 22nd 2023, after which judging will be carried out by representatives from the veterinary, human health and environmental sectors to facilitate a One Health perspective in the analysis of entries. Results will be announced on January 30th 2024. Prizes for both the winning schools and students were donated by Bavarian Nordic, KSVDL and KDHE EPHTP.
