The Algerian Veterinary Space Foundation (AVSF) is proud to host the 18th Congress of the Algerian Veterinary Space, a landmark event that gathers veterinarians, scientists, policymakers, and partners from across Algeria and beyond. This congress stands as a platform for exchanging knowledge, strengthening the veterinary profession, and addressing the most pressing animal health and public health challenges.

Launch of the National Rabies Campaign

During this congress, AVSF is officially launching its National Rabies Campaign, aligning with World Rabies Day. This campaign represents a milestone in the fight against one of Algeria’s most persistent zoonotic diseases.

Key actions include:

  • Free Mass Spay and Neuter Program: Helping control the stray dog population sustainably and humanely.

  • Free Mass Vaccination Drive: Protecting both animals and humans by preventing rabies transmission.

  • 1,000 Free Rabies Vaccines: Offered to the public during the campaign, ensuring wide access to protection.

A National Effort for a Global Goal

This initiative highlights Algeria’s commitment to the “Zero by 30” global goal—eliminating human deaths from dog-mediated rabies by 2030. By combining veterinary expertise, One Health collaboration, and community engagement, this campaign bridges the gap between animal health and human health, reflecting the vision of AVSF as both a national leader and a strong partner in the international veterinary community.
